Story By: Brittani Harris | January 2015
YNOT Images held its model call on January 4, 2015 for their upcoming scholarship fashion show, which will be held at Woodrow Hall on April 10, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.
The purpose of the fashion show is to raise money to provide a scholarship for a graduating high school senior in Alabama. About 36 hopeful individuals showed up to try out for the fashion show at the Grand on 16th.
Before auditions started Antonio Minified, founder of YNOT Images, along with board member Gina Grayson, demonstrated three types of walks the individuals would be judged on. The three types of walks, European, freestyle, and American, will be displayed in the show along with performances from musical group 8VALUTION, dancers, B.C.A., and more.
According to Minified, this gave judges a chance to see if the models could pick up on the techniques quickly while giving them an opportunity to show their personality. “I’m elated to have the opportunity to participate in an event such as this because modeling is something I enjoy. More importantly, I love to see such a collection of young talent: the models, designers, artists, consultants, and more work together, “said Raynard Butler from Montgomery, AL. “I’m also an avid supporter of the cause, which provides a college scholarship for a deserving youth.“
A $500 scholarship was presented last year to a graduating high school senior now attending Tuskegee University. This year, Antonio Minified, an alumnus of Tuskegee University, has opened up this scholarship to any graduating high school senior who desires to attend any college or university. “I really want to reach out to high school students and young adults to let them know to always press forward and never give up on their dreams or opportunities presented to them,” said Minified.
YNOT Images, photography company, was founded and created three years ago. Minifield later developed the meaning behind the phrase “YNOT” while running for SGA president at Tuskegee University."
“YNOT” was my campaign slogan and it means use your God given potential to the best of your ability and not letting anyone tell you that you can’t do anything because when you believe you can do something you’re going to put your best foot forward and not let anyone stop you from doing it,” said Minified. “My goal is to promote education among our youth.”
For high school seniors interested in applying for the scholarship, applications will be given to counselors in Alabama school districts at the beginning of March. Applications are also available for download under our About/YNOT Foundation page. The students will have three weeks to submit applications and they will be reviewed by a team of certified teachers.
